Where we come out for events
Event work is scheduling work, so the first thing worth knowing is the geography, because where you are shapes what the job looks like and how far ahead you should book.
Manhattan, 66502 and 66503. Backyard events in the established neighborhoods near downtown and campus are the bulk of what we do. Small fenced lots, patios doing most of the entertaining, and guests spread across a space that was never designed to hold forty people. On a lot this size there is nowhere for a missed spot to hide, which is why the before visit matters more here than anywhere.
Kansas State area, 66506. Graduation weekend is the single biggest event window in this market, and it is concentrated into a few days in May. Rental houses, shared yards, families in from out of town. If your event falls in that window, book early, because everyone else on your block is having the same idea in the same week.
West and south Manhattan, 66505 and the newer subdivisions. Larger, flatter, more open backyards. Easier to work, but more ground to cover, and open lots mean guests wander further from the patio than they do downtown.
Junction City and Fort Riley, 66441 and 66442. Homecomings, farewells, unit gatherings and family reunions tied to military timing. These often come together on short notice, and we do our best to accommodate that. Tell us the date as soon as you have it.
St. George, 66535, and Wamego, 66547. Rural and semi rural acreage. Half acre lots and up, partial fencing, and dogs that range across the whole property. For a bigger outdoor event out here the useful conversation is which portion of the property guests will actually be on, because we would rather focus the work where people will stand than spread it thin over five acres.
Ogden. Small town lots, straightforward, usually routed with the Fort Riley area.
What event service means
There are two visits, and you can book either or both.
The before visit is the important one. We clean the yard within a day or two of the event so guests are walking on a genuinely clear lawn, not one that was clear last Tuesday. This is a full grid walk covering fence lines, deck skirts, landscape beds and side yards, with everything bagged and hauled off your property. If odor is a concern, especially on a patio, tell us in advance so we can talk about pairing it with yard deodorizing, which needs to happen after the scooping and with enough lead time.
The after visit matters more than people expect at dog friendly events. If guests bring dogs, or if the event is a dog centered gathering, you will have more on the ground the next morning than you started with, in a yard nobody wants to deal with hungover on a Sunday. An after cleanup is a cheap way to not spend that morning outside with a bag.
Neither visit requires you to be home. For the before visit especially, most hosts are out running errands or picking people up from the airport, and that is fine. We work the yard, latch the gate, haul the bags, and send a note when it is done, so you can cross it off the list without thinking about it again.
One practical note on timing. If you are renting tables, tents or a bounce house, have us come before the rental company sets up, not after. Once there is equipment staked across the lawn we cannot cover the ground underneath it, and that is usually the exact patch guests will be standing on all afternoon.
Seasonal notes
Spring. Graduation season and outdoor weddings collide with the wettest part of the Kansas year. Flint Hills soil sits over limestone and drains unevenly, so a low spot in the yard can still be soft two days after a storm. Book the before visit a day or two ahead rather than the morning of, so a downpour does not squeeze the whole job into a window that no longer exists.
Summer. Hot and humid from June into September. Anything left on the ground breaks down fast and brings flies within a day, which is the actual risk to an outdoor party here. For a summer event, a same week clean is not enough. Get it done within a day or two.
Fall. Football season, tailgates that migrate to backyards, and family gatherings. Leaf cover is the complication: once the trees drop, waste hides under leaf litter and reappears when someone blows the yard clear the day before guests arrive. If you are doing leaf cleanup, schedule us after it, not before.
Winter. Holiday gatherings after a freeze and thaw cycle. A warm stretch in December can surface weeks of accumulation at once, and a yard that looked fine when it was frozen will not look fine on the day.
Pricing
Event cleanups are priced the same way as any one time visit: $40 for the first five gallon bucket and $15 for each additional bucket. You pay for what actually comes out of the yard, so a well maintained lawn getting a pre party pass is inexpensive, and a yard that has not been touched since spring will be more. We will give you the estimate up front.
If you book both a before and an after visit, each is priced as its own cleanup, and the after visit is usually the cheaper of the two.
If the event has you thinking about the yard generally, recurring service starts at $14.00 a visit for weekly single dog pooper scooper service in Manhattan, roughly $60.67 a month, or $25.00 a visit for twice weekly. Plenty of our customers first found us because of a graduation party and stayed on the schedule afterward.
