Austin spends a lot of its year outside. The stretch from March into early June and the run from October through November are the two windows when the weather cooperates, and that is when back yards fill up with people: graduation parties, backyard weddings and receptions, showers, birthdays, work gatherings, dog friendly meetups, adoption events, and vendor booths at anything held on grass.

The visit, start to finish

Scheduling backward from your start time

Everything about an event visit is built off the hour your guests arrive. We schedule backward from it. For most jobs that means we are on site the morning of, or the day before if setup crews, rentals, or tents are going in early and we need to be out of their way.

The day before is often the better call and people resist it because it feels too early. It is not. Waste that gets picked up the afternoon before does not reappear overnight unless the dogs are out, and working the day prior means we are not competing with a caterer for the same gate at the same time. If the dogs will be in the yard that evening, we do the morning of instead.

Arrival

Our scooper arrives with buckets, bags, and tools staged before approaching the yard, and checks in so you know we are there. You do not need to be present, though on event days people usually are, because they are already deep into setup.

The scooper does a quick weather read first. Central Texas spring is genuinely unpredictable: a fast storm rolls through, a yard soaks, and the ground you were going to walk on turns soft. Wet turf takes longer to work and it takes a different approach. In a July or August event, the opposite problem, waste that has dried hard in the heat crumbles instead of lifting and needs more passes.

Through the gate, and a look before any sweeping

We open the gate and stop. Before working the yard we read it: where the dogs go, how tall the grass is, and critically for an event, what is already staged out there. Tables, rented chairs, a tent footprint, coolers, cords, string lights. We work around all of it rather than moving your setup, and we tell you if something is sitting directly on a spot that needs attention.

If dogs are loose in the yard, we do not enter. We call or text.

The sweep

We work the yard in overlapping parallel passes, edge to edge, the way you would mow it. The overlap is what makes the difference. A quick perimeter loop plus a cut through the middle leaves a yard that looks clean from the patio and is not, and an event is precisely the wrong time to find that out.

Then the collection points, which are never the middle of the lawn: fence lines, the shaded side yard, behind the AC unit, the strip against the house, under deck edges. For events we widen the sweep past where a normal visit stops, into the areas guests will actually stand: the path from the driveway to the gate, the edge of the patio, the strip of lawn where the tables are going. Guests do not stay on the lawn. They wander, and they wander in dress shoes.

Local ground matters here too. Yards out toward Lakeway and Bee Cave sit on thin soil over limestone with rock and native ground cover instead of continuous turf, so waste wedges into edges rather than resting on grass. Heavy clay yards on the east side of Austin hold waste down into the ground after a wet stretch. Neither gets skipped.

Disposal

Everything is bagged, sealed in buckets, and loaded onto our truck. It leaves with us. Nothing goes into your bins on an event day, because your bins are about to be doing other work, and nothing gets staged behind the shed. Tools are cleaned between properties.

Gate check and notification

The last thing before we leave is the gate: closed, latched, and pulled on to confirm. Then you get a message that the yard is done. On an event day that notification is the whole point, because you have twenty other things running and you should not have to walk out and inspect the lawn to know it is handled.

After the event, if you want it

Plenty of hosts book a second visit for the day after, especially when the gathering was dog friendly and guests brought their own. That one is straightforward, and it is a much better morning than doing it yourself.

Event cleanups are priced the same way our one time work is, by volume, which keeps it fair across wildly different yards: $40 for the first 5 gallon bucket and $20 for each additional bucket. A regularly maintained yard before a party is usually the first bucket and nothing more. A yard that has been neglected for a season is more, and we will tell you that up front rather than after.
