What is event cleanup and how is it different from regular service?

Regular service is a standing weekly or biweekly visit that keeps a yard permanently clear. Event cleanup is one visit, scheduled around a date, with a different standard.

The difference is thoroughness versus rhythm. On weekly service the yard never gets far off, so a visit is quick. For an event we are working to a harder finish, because a hundred people in dress shoes are about to walk across it. That means the fence lines, under the deck, the mulch beds, the shady side yard nobody looks at, and anywhere a tent, tables, or a bounce house are going to sit. Areas that are normally fine to be merely tidy need to be genuinely clean.

It also means we work to your date, not to a route. Tell us the day and time of the event and we will build backward from it.

Should you come before the event, after it, or both?

Before, almost always. Before is what protects the party.

The right timing is close to the event but not on top of it. If your dogs are in the yard right up until guests arrive, cleaning three days out accomplishes very little. The day before, or the morning of if that works out, is the sweet spot. Enough margin that you are not managing a vendor while you are also icing drinks, but late enough that it stays clean.

After matters in one specific case: when dogs actually attended. A gathering where six families brought their dogs leaves a different yard than a gathering where the host's dog was crated inside. If that is your situation, ask about a second visit and we will quote both.

One honest note about scheduling. Our office runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm, and most events are on weekends, so the practical answer for a Saturday event is usually a Friday visit. Weekend availability is limited. Ask early rather than assuming.

My event is at a rented property or a park, not my house. Can you still do it?

Often, yes, with one condition: somebody with authority over the property has to approve it. We cannot show up and start working on ground we have no permission to be on.

This comes up a lot with outdoor gatherings on acreage out toward Tonganoxie, Linwood, Reno, and Easton, where the space is rented from an owner rather than owned by the host. It also comes up with community rooms, HOA common areas, and apartment community lawns in Kansas City, Piper, and Lansing. In all of those cases, get us the go ahead from the owner, the board, or the property manager, and give us access details for gates and drives.

Public parks are a different animal. Municipal ground usually has its own rules about outside vendors working on it, and that is a conversation with the city, not with us. If you sort out permission, we can talk about the work.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks is comfortable. A week is usually workable. A day or two before is a maybe and depends entirely on what our week already looks like.

The stretches to plan further ahead for are the busy ones: May and early June for graduations and weddings, and the run up to the Fourth of July. What happens if it rains?

First, a saturated yard is harder to work and harder to leave looking crisp, because everything softens. Cleaning the day before a wet Saturday is better than cleaning the morning of, when the ground is still soggy from an overnight storm.

Second, if the storm is severe enough that we genuinely cannot work safely, we will call you rather than leave you guessing. We will get you rescheduled to whatever window still lands before your event. What we will not do is quietly skip and charge you.

If your event itself gets moved by weather, tell us as soon as you know and we will move with it if we can.

What does it cost?

Event cleanup is quoted per job because the variables are real: yard size, how many dogs use it, how long it has been since the last thorough pickup, how much grass has grown, and how tight the timing is. A quarter acre in a newer Piper neighborhood with one dog and a two acre spread outside Easton with three are different jobs and should not carry the same price.
