Commercial Pet Waste Removal in Northeast Ohio

Commercial pet waste removal for apartments, HOAs, and dog friendly properties across Akron, Canton, Kent, Warren, and Boardman.

Property managers ask us a fairly consistent set of questions, and most of them are practical rather than promotional. So this page is just those questions, answered the way we would answer them on the phone.

We are George and Victoria Ritchie. We run Poo Squad Northeast Ohio out of Salem and handle commercial pet waste removal in Akron, Ohio, plus the Canton, Portage County, and Mahoning Valley markets.

What kinds of properties do you actually service?

Multifamily is the bulk of it: apartment communities, townhome developments, and condo associations where residents have dogs and the common areas take the hit. Beyond that, homeowners associations with shared green space, dog parks and pet relief areas, mobile home communities, and dog friendly businesses such as boarding and daycare facilities, grooming shops, veterinary offices, and breweries or patios that let dogs in.

The common thread is not the building type. It is that the waste is generated by many different people and cleaned up by none of them, which is a problem that does not solve itself with signage.

How often does a property like ours need service?

It depends far more on dog density than on acreage. A sixty unit building in Kent or Stow where a third of the residents have dogs can generate more volume on a single lawn strip than a large, spread out HOA in Canfield or Poland.

As a rough guide: properties with heavy dog populations and limited green space usually need multiple visits a week. Mid sized communities are often well served weekly. Lower density associations and small business properties frequently do fine every other week. We would rather walk your property, count your actual pressure points, and tell you what it needs than sell you a frequency you do not.

Season matters here too. In Northeast Ohio, the March thaw is when every property looks its worst at once, and communities that ran through winter come out of it in dramatically better shape than the ones that paused in December.

Who supplies and maintains the waste stations?

We can service the stations you already have, which usually means emptying the receptacle on every visit, restocking bags, and telling you when a unit is broken, leaning, or in the wrong place. If you do not have stations yet, we will talk through where they should go, because station placement is the single cheapest thing that improves resident compliance. Stations near building exits and along the routes people actually walk get used. Stations at the far edge of the property do not.

Station service and open ground scooping are different work, so we quote them clearly rather than folding one into the other and leaving you guessing.

Will you be working around residents and staff?

Yes, and we work accordingly. Our crews are in Poo Squad branded gear so nobody is wondering who is walking the property. We stay out of the way of parking, trash pickup, and landscaping crews, and we can schedule around your mowing days so we are not covering ground the mower is about to cross.

We do not confront residents about their dogs. That is your relationship to manage, not ours. What we will do is tell you where the problems concentrate, which is often more useful for a community letter than a general reminder to everyone.

We already have a landscaping contractor. Is this not their job?

It is usually not, and it is worth checking your contract rather than assuming. Most landscape and mowing agreements in this region cover turf, beds, and trimming, and explicitly exclude pet waste. When a mowing crew hits a lawn that has not been cleared, the result is not neutral. It gets spread across the whole area in a fine layer, which is worse for the property and worse for the crew.

That is the practical argument for sequencing the two services. We can schedule the day before your mowing day so the lawn is clear when the crew arrives. It costs nothing to coordinate and it removes a recurring complaint that most managers have simply gotten used to living with.

What do we get as proof the visit happened?

A notification when the property has been serviced. For managers who are fielding resident complaints, this matters more than anything else on this page, because the useful answer to a complaint is a specific date rather than a vague assurance that a vendor comes out.

If there is something we think you should know, a torn fence section, a station that is overflowing between visits, a corner of the property that has become an unofficial dog run, you hear about it from us instead of hearing about it from a resident.

What does commercial pet waste removal cost?

Commercial work is quoted per property. There is no per dog table for it, because the drivers are the amount of ground we cover, how often we come, how many stations we service, and how heavy the dog population is. A tight townhome loop in North Canton and a spread out association in Hudson can have identical unit counts and very different quotes.

What we can tell you is how we price: one walk of the property, one written number, and no surprise line items after the fact. If a property needs a heavy initial cleanup before regular service starts, we say that up front rather than discovering it on the first invoice.

Which areas do you cover?

We serve a broad stretch of Northeast Ohio. That includes dog poop clean up in Akron, Ohio, along with Canton, North Canton, Green, Uniontown, Hartville, and Louisville, the Portage County communities of Kent, Stow, Streetsboro, Hudson, and Ravenna, the Columbiana County side through Salem, Columbiana, Sebring, and Alliance, and the Mahoning Valley across Warren, Howland Center, Niles, Mineral Ridge, McDonald, Girard, Hubbard, Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Poland, and Struthers. Cleveland area properties are worth a conversation.
