One Time Dog Poop Cleanup on the Western Slope
Backed up yard? Poo Squad handles one time dog poop cleanups in Grand Junction, Montrose, Delta and across the Western Slope. From $45. Call 970-540-4760.
People call us for a one time cleanup at one of two moments. Either the snow finally came off and the yard is genuinely bad, or something is happening soon (a showing, a party, family flying in) and it has to be dealt with this week. Either way the job is the same: take a yard nobody has touched in months and hand it back clean.
The most useful thing we can tell you is exactly what that visit looks like, so here it is, start to finish.
One visit, start to finish
Arrival
We come out in the window you picked when you booked. You do not need to be home, and most people are not. If there is a code, a latch that sticks, or a specific side yard we should start from, you tell us that up front and it goes on the job. If the dogs will be out, we would rather know that too, because it is easier for everyone if they are inside for the twenty or thirty minutes we are working.
The gate
The gate gets opened, and it gets closed behind us immediately. Not propped, not left swinging. On the older properties around Delta, Hotchkiss, and Paonia, gates and fence lines vary a lot, and a latch that only catches when you lift it is a real thing we run into. If a gate is broken or will not hold, we let you know rather than guessing.
The sweep pattern
This is the part that separates a real cleanup from a quick lap. We work the yard in overlapping passes rather than wandering it, so no strip gets covered twice while another gets missed. The open lawn goes fast. What takes the time is the edge work: fence lines, the strip behind the shed, under the deck stairs, around shrub beds and rock, and along whatever the dogs have worn into a running path.
High desert yards make this harder than it sounds. In dry weather waste bakes down to the color of the dirt and the mulch, and around Grand Junction and Fruita there is a lot of gravel, rock, and xeriscape where it hides in plain sight. On irrigated grass it is the opposite problem: thick turf swallows it, so we are going by feel and pattern as much as by sight. On a backed up yard we do a second pass over the heavy zones before we call it done.
Disposal
Everything we pick up goes into buckets and leaves with us. We do not stack bags by your gate and we do not fill your trash can unless you specifically ask us to, which some people do. On a first cleanup the volume is usually the surprising part, and it is worth knowing that the quote is tied to how much comes out.
The gate check
Before we leave, we walk back to every gate we touched and confirm it is latched. This is the single most important thing we do, because an unlatched gate on a property backing to open ground is not a small mistake.
The notification
You get a message when the visit is complete. That is your signal that the yard is clear, the gates are shut, and the dogs can go back out. If we found something worth flagging (a gate that needs a repair, a spot we could not reach, a sprinkler head running when we arrived) it comes through in that message.
Who a one time cleanup suits
It is the right call more often than people think:
- Spring reset. The most common one on the Western Slope. Winter ends, everything surfaces at once, and you want a clean starting line before the season.
- Selling the house. Photos, showings, and inspections all go better with a yard that is actually clear.
- Moving in or out. Inheriting somebody else's backlog is a bad first weekend in a new place.
- An event coming up. A graduation, a wedding block, a family reunion in the backyard.
- You fell behind. Travel, an injury, a busy stretch at work. It happens, and it is not a judgment call on our end.
- Trying us out. Plenty of people book a one time dog poop cleanup service first and move to weekly or biweekly after they see the yard.
Where we work
Poo Squad runs a pooper scooper service on the Western Slope, CO, covering the Grand Valley and the Uncompahgre and North Fork country: Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, Montrose, Olathe, Delta, Cedaredge, Hotchkiss, and Paonia. That includes ZIPs 81501, 81502, 81503, 81504, 81505, 81506, 81507, and 81521 in the valley, plus 81401, 81413, 81419, 81425, and 81428. If you have been searching for a pooper scooper service near me and were not sure whether anyone runs this far out, we do.
One thing worth saying plainly: we have seen worse than whatever your yard looks like right now. A backed up yard is the normal reason people call a dog poop cleanup service, not the embarrassing exception. Nobody on our end is counting, and you are not going to shock us. The only thing that actually matters for the quote is roughly how much is out there, which we can work out from a few questions over the phone.
What it costs
A one time cleanup starts at $45, plus $20 for each additional five gallon bucket we haul off the property. That structure exists because a two dog yard cleaned a month ago and a two dog yard untouched since October are not the same job, and pricing it by volume is the honest way to handle it.
If you decide to keep the yard clean afterward, weekly service for one dog starts at $13.00 per visit (about $56.33 per month), and every other week starts around $47.00 per month. Those are starting points and the quote adjusts for dogs and yard size.
Book the cleanup
Tell us the town, the number of dogs, and roughly how long it has been. That is enough for us to get you a number.
